'It's New York -- you almost expect to be robbed' -- Actor Sean Connery
HOLLYWOOD -- Consider the irony.
While Sean Connery was playing a jewel thief, his wife was being burglarized by one.
In his newest movie Entrapment, Connery plays an aging jewel thief who meets his match in a young thief played by Catherine Zeta Jones.
While he was doing some last-minute filming in England, his wife Micheline was staying at a ritzy residential apartment hotel in New York.
She was out for dinner when a thief broke in and stole a velvet jewelry bag filled with more than $1-million US worth of diamond rings, bracelets and brooches.
"It's New York -- you almost expect to be robbed," explains Connery, who plays Gena Rowlands' husband in the romantic mystery Playing by Heart, which opens in January.
Contrary to recent reports in some British newspapers, Connery has no intentions of playing James Bond in his twilight years.
"I've heard the Bond rumors, but there is absolutely no truth to them.
"I will never, ever play James Bond again. That doesn't mean I'll never ever be in another Bond movie.
"If there's a good part in a new Bond film, I'd certainly look at it."
