'James Bond's' wife gets moment in the sun
By JAM! Movies
The man the world still identifies as the James Bond -- Sean Connery -- took a supporting role Wednesday to support his wife's painting career.

The AFP news service reports that Connery and his wife of 30 years. Micheline Roquebrune Connery, travelled to Rome to show 30 of her paintings.

Tunisian-born Roquebrune Connery said her painting career predates her relationship with Connery, whom she met in 1970 in Morocco.

"I'm perfectly happy in my supporting role, that's the reason why I'm here," she told journalists at a press conference prior to the opening of her show.

When asked about dwelling in Connery's shadow, she replied: "I'm very small, but in my head I'm six-foot-two."

"To be in the shadow of my wife," added the towering Connery, "would need a strange configuration of the sun."

AFP described Roquebrune Connery's paintings, which are being shown in Rome's Vittoriano alongside an exhibit of Magritte's work, as a mix of vivid and pastel-coloured portraits done in a Mediterranean style.

"I don't like sad paintings ... I'm a Mediterranean, and that's represented in my paintings," she said of her work.

The paintings will be on display until June 10.
