Russell Crowe is set to play the Sheriff of Nottingham in a new film adaptation of Robin Hood, only this time the sheriff is the good guy.
According to HollywoodReporter.com, the story revolves around a series of murders and Robin Hood is the No. 1 suspect.
A director has yet to be assigned, but Sam Raimi ("Spider Man"), Ridley Scott ("Gladiator") and Bryan Singer ("Superman Returns") are all looking over the screenplay.
According to the article, when the script was sent out to major studios, it created a huge bidding war between Universal Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema, Regency Enterprises, DreamWorks Pictures and Columbia Pictures.
In the end, Universal won the project.
