What would Freud say about Robert De Niro's decision to return to the shrink's office for a sequel to "Analyze This"?
Variety says De Niro has agreed to star in "Analyze That," reprising his role as an angst-plagued underworld boss. He'll receive a career-high $20 million fee for the role, the report said. Billy Crystal and Lisa Kudrow are also in talks to co-star.
While De Niro made his reputation playing edgy characters in films such as "Taxi Driver," "Raging Bull", and "Good Fellas," his payday has actually skyrocketed in comedic parts that play off his tough-guy iconography, in films such as "Analyze This" and "Meet The Parents". (The latter is also the subject of a planned sequel).
De Niro had been expected to star as a phobic therapist in "Scared Guys" but backed out to take on "Analyze That." James Gandolfini and Adam Sandler had both been mentioned as possible co-stars for "Scared Guys," which is now in search of a new leading man, Variety said.
