Cameron Diaz will play one of three tough Playboy centrefolds in the fact-based film "X-Girls," Variety reports.

The comedy will follow the first female-dominated team to compete in the gruelling adventure race reality show Eco-Challenge.

Entering a competition usually the domain of ex-Navy SEALs and Army Rangers, the centrefolds used survival skills and teamwork to navigate through the dense jungle and rugged terrain of Fiji in last year's competition.

Diaz is presently working on the Jim Carrey comedy "Fun with Dick and Jane" and the follow-up to the 2001 hit "Shrek," in theatres next summer.
