Winnipeg R3J 3T8 is a long way from Beverly Hills 90210.
You don't have to tell that to Shannen Doherty, the former star of that long-gone prime time soap as she put in another day of work on the Alliance Atlantis-produced TV movie Another Day.
Casually clad in jeans and a lined windbreaker, the 30-year-old Doherty could be seen, cell-phone-to-ear, braving the elements of a windy Winnipeg spring as she walked through the oak-lined neighbourhood of Woodhaven yesterday. Shooting commenced on the film on May 14.
BEVERLY HILLS BLASE
Despite the presence of dozens of production vehicles and trailers, the location shoot is proceeding quietly, and locals are apparently handling it with a Beverly Hills-worthy blase attitude. This is in marked contrast to the crowds who amassed in a Southdale neighbourhood last week to catch a glimpse of Rob Lowe shooting a scene for his TV movie Framed.
Yesterday afternoon, the only onlookers in the vicinity of the Assiniboine Avenue shoot were a pair of St. James teens whose primary mission was to fish off the footbridge across Sturgeon Creek in Woodhaven Park.
"We were sitting their fishing and we just lucked out and saw her coming out of her trailer," said Tim Tasse, 19, who said he recognized her from her work in Beverly Hills 90210.
His fishing buddy, Danny Sutherland, also 19, said he didn't come to Woodhaven to see the actress.
"I just come here to fish," he said.
"She was in Maxim magazine too, eh?" added Tim.
In Another Day, Doherty plays a woman who travels back in time to investigate her lover's fiery death. The movie will be filming here for two more weeks. (More on Shannen Doherty)
