Feisty actress Shannen Doherty is looking to make her first splash into TV comedy, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Doherty, who has had controversial regular roles on "Beverly Hills 90210" and "Charmed," has inked a deal to star in a show about a young woman with a nasty reputation who is nice at heart.

The project is set up by NBC-based Pariah TV.

Doherty, who currently hosts Sci Fi Channel's "Scare Tactics," has an upcoming role in the Jodie Foster-directed film "Flora Plum," starring Clare Danes and Ewan McGregor. The film is scheduled for release in 2004.
