The odd couple of Michael Douglas and Albert Brooks are teaming up for a remake of the comedy "The In-Laws."
Variety said the remake has been retitled "'Till Death Do Us Part" and is based on the 1979 original, which starred Peter Falk and Alan Arkin concerned the fathers of a young engaged couple -- one a mild-mannered dentist, the other claiming to be a secret agent -- who become embroiled in a series of misadventures.
Brooks will portray the meeker role (now changed from dentist to podiatrist), while Douglas will play the CIA agent.
Variety said "Men In Black" screenwriter Ed Solomon has signed on to write the screenplay, and shooting is scheduled to begin in Toronto and Chicago in June.
The report said Brooks, who most recently appeared in the Christine Lahti-directed "My First Mister," is writing a new, as-yet-untitled comedy which he will direct. The film centres on a young ensemble of actors, and Brooks will not appear in the film, Variety said.
