Faye behind President Beatty
By LOUIS B. HOBSON

In The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc that opens Friday, Faye Dunaway plays the scheming Yolande of Aragon who made herself the guardian of Charles VII, the king of France.

Dunaway spent a week last month in Madrid to help promote the launch of a Turner Classic movie channel in Spain.

The channel's premier offering is Dunaway's 1967 classic Bonnie and Clyde.

Her co-star, Warren Beatty, is rumoured to be considering running for president.

"I hear people are lining up to be Warren's vice-president. Joking aside, Warren would be a very viable candidate," says Dunaway.

"He's smart and has great integrity and, like John Kennedy, he's magical. He has his own Camelot."

Addressing the rumours about Beatty's wild ways, Dunaway insists: "Warren was never a womanizer. He was a legendary lover, but he never cheated on his women. That's what a womanizer does and, as far as partying, I've never seen him drink anything but club soda."
