Aaron Eckhart is in final negotiations to join the cast of the new Batman movie, "The Dark Knight."
According to HollywoodReporter.com, the "Thank You for Smoking" star could join Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine in Christopher Nolan's follow-up to "Batman Begins."
Eckhart is in talks to play Harvey Dent, Gotham City district attorney and close friend of Bruce Wayne. When half of his face is burned by acid, he goes insane and transforms into the evil crime boss Two Face, who uses the flip of a coin to determine his actions.
In 1995's "Batman Forever," Tommy Lee Jones portrayed Two Face as just an evil maniac, but in comic books and "Batman the Animated Series" Two Face is more of a tragic villain.
At the moment there is no word on how the character will be handled in "The Dark Knight."
Nolan's brother, Jonathan ("Memento"), wrote the screenplay.
