Peter Fonda has been in semi retirement for most of the past two decades.
His daughter Bridget Fonda coaxed him into appearing in her films Grace of My Heart and Bodies, Rest & Motion and he had a juicy cameo in Escape from L.A. spoofing his old hippie image.
In the drama Ulee's Gold, that opens later this month, Fonda plays a grandfather character reminiscent of those his late father Henry Fonda was famous for playing.
Fonda admits he would like to have a real part opposite his daughter but realizes, "we'd have to play father and daughter and there just aren't many of those roles available.
"What I'd really like to do very soon is direct Bridget. I am amazed at her talent."
Fonda's sister Jane Fonda insists she has retired from film but he doesn't agree.
"Sooner or later (her husband) Ted (Turner) is going to let her act again. It's Ted who doesn't want her to act.
"I want to star with Jane one more time before we die."
