Morgan Freeman has signed on to star in director Lawrence Kasdan's adaptation of Stephen King's novel "Dreamcatcher," Variety reports.
The film is being scripted by William Goldman, who penned adaptations of King's "Misery" and "Hearts In Atlantis". It tells the story of a group of childhood friends who reunite as adults to battle an army colonel (Freeman) and extraterrestrials, the report said.
Kasdan told Variety he was attracted to the story because it begins like his early hit "The Big Chill," with friends reuniting (in this case, for an annual hunting trip). But the story then takes a very King-like twist.
The effects house Industrial Light & Magic has been hired to handle the movie's special effects.
