Anchorwoman is not the only news-themed show slated for Fox this season.
While model-turned-anchor Lauren Jones is starring in the reality-comedy series Anchorwoman, Kelsey Grammer is starring as an anchorman in the scripted sitcom Back To You.
But Grammer's opinion of TV news is not nearly as high as those of Jones' colleagues at KYTX in Tyler, Tex.
Asked about the transition from playing a radio host (Dr. Frasier Crane) to a TV anchor, Grammer said, "Well, I like to think that based upon my knowledge of most television newscasting now, it has nothing to do with the news anyway. So I'm very happy to just be another performer pretending to be a performer.
"Frasier was trying to be a psychiatrist that happened to be on the air, so it's a little different there. Although Frasier was equally self-obsessed, he was trying to do the world some good. This fellow (Grammer's new character in Back To You) is trying to do himself some good."
Anchorwoman debuts tonight. Back To You, which also stars Patricia Heaton, debuts Sept. 19.
