Maggie Gyllenhaal will star alongside funnyman Will Ferrell in the comedy "Stranger Than Fiction," Variety reports.

The movie tells the story of an IRS auditor (Ferrell) whose life is interrupted by the sound of a personal narrator who knows his every thought.

Details of Gyllenhaal's role have not been revealed.

The film, directed by Marc Forster ("Monster's Ball," "Finding Neverland") and produced by Lindsay Doran ("Sense and Sensibility"), begins shooting in April.

Gyllenhaal just wrapped up work on the dramedy "Trust the Man" with Ellen Barkin and Julianne Moore.
