Tom Hanks is set to star in "How Starbucks Saved My Life," a film based on an as-yet unwritten memoir, Variety reports.
The memoir, by Michael Gates Gill, centres on a 60-year-old former executive who found himself down and out when he was downsized out of a job.
In the midst of a personal downward spiral in light of an affair that ended his marriage, Gill's luck turned around when he was offered a job at Starbucks, thereby giving his life new purpose.
The premise of the memoir was enough to convince several studios to pursue the blueprint for a film, based on the timely subject of mature execs who must re-start their lives when they're made redundant from their jobs.
Gus Van Sant ("Good Will Hunting") will direct the film.
