Ja Rule enlists in 'Precinct 13'

Rapper Ja Rule is joining Ethan Hawke and Lawrence Fishburne in the remake of the 1976 John Carpenter film "Assault on Precinct 13."
Set in present day, the movie tells the story of a notorious mobster (Fishburne) who is temporarily locked up at Precinct 13.
Hawke plays a cop who has to take charge a crew of cops and prisoners to protect the station from a rogue gang attempting to break the mobster out.
Ja Rule's character is Smiley, a small-time crook who ends up trapped in the precinct when the assault begins.
Ja Rule's other upcoming projects are "Back in the Day" with Tia Carrere and Tatyana Ali and "The Cookout" with Eve, Queen Latifah and Farrah Fawcett.
His film credits include "The Fast and the Furious," "Half Past Dead" and "Scary Movie 3."
