Ethan Hawke will star in the indie drama "Staten Island."

ProductionWeekly.com reports that James DeMonaco wrote the script and will make his directorial debut. DeMonaco wrote the screenplay for the 2005 remake of "Assault on Precinct 13," in which Hawke also starred.

Filming is set to being in late April in New York.

DeMonaco's "The Kill Pit," an eight-hour TV drama series directed by Steve Shill ("The Sopranos"), begins production later this month in Pittsburgh. The mini-series revolves around a bank robbery by a group of American Iraq-War veterans
