After switching her affection from women to men, Anne Heche is now shifting her focus from movies to TV.

Variety reports the recently engaged Heche is talking to network execs about starring in her own series -- an interest fired by her guest turn on "Ally McBeal."

The report said networks have courted Heche in the past (based on her turns in "Wag The Dog" and "Six Days, Seven Nights"), but now it's Heche who is looking for offers, and "McBeal" producer David E. Kelley is expected to her on her list of potential producers when she makes the rounds next month.

Meanwhile, expect to see interest in Heche climb with the September publication of her autobiography "Call Me Crazy." Heche, who was earlier in her career romantically linked to Steve Martin, embarked on a highly publicized relationship with Ellen DeGeneres three years ago.

They split up last fall, and shortly thereafter, Heche made headlines when she turned up at a stranger's house, apparently disoriented. There were rumours of drug use, but Heche later stated she was suffering from sunstroke.

Late last year, after the drug arrest of Robert Downey Jr., Heche threatened to sue The National Enquirer after the tabloid falsely reported she triggered Downey's return to drug use.

Last month, Heche's manager confirmed she is engaged to Coley Laffoon, a cameraman she met while he was working on a documentary about DeGeneres.

Heche will next be seen on movie screens in the Toronto-filmed "John Q," opposite Denzel Washington, and with Christina Ricci in "Prozac Nation."
