Philip Seymour Hoffman

Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman will join forces with Laura Linney ("Kinsey") in the family drama "The Savages," Production Weekly reports.

Tamara Jenkins ("Slums of Beverly Hills") will direct the film centered on a pair of adult siblings who are forced to care for their ailing and senile father who neglected and abused them as children.

Shooting will begin in April in New York.

Hoffman will next be seen appearing opposite Tom Cruise in "Mission Impossible: III" due in theatres May 5.
