Oscar-winning actress Holly Hunter ("The Piano") has announced that she is pregnant with twins, People.com reports.

"She is expecting twins, and she is due this winter," her representative told the magazine.

This will be the first children for the 47-year-old actress and her partner, British actor Gordon Macdonald.

The expectant parents met last November while co-starring in the London-based production of the play "By the Bog of Cats."

Hunter was previously married to cinematographer Janusz Kaminski. They divorced in 2001.

Hunter will next be seen in "The Big White" co-starring Robin Williams which is due in theatres this fall.
