Look out, indoor golfers. Slammin' Sammy Jackson is headed our way. Jackson is nearing completion of Shaft in L.A. As soon as he's finished there, the compulsive duffer will start up the ultra-action picture Caveman's Valentine here -- maybe by the end of February or early March. Which means he'll have to find some indoor golf pleasure domes to do his practice swings.

Meanwhile, the word on the John Singleton-directed Shaft is good. The Richard Price update is not a remake, and has Jackson's cool private eye in modern New York -- is that the near crime-free New York? -- being hunted by cops and criminals. The '70s Shaft, Richard Rountree, has a cameo.

"I get the girl," Jackson says of his debonair Shaft part. "I've never been able to do that in a movie before."
