Samuel L. Jackson's character is out of his "homeless mode" and into the middle of investigating a Manhattan murder in A Caveman's Valentine, shooting here. Jackson really should read his scripts a little more closely. Most of his filming schedule says "overnight" on it.

Still, the Oscar-nominated actor is doing Caveman's Valentine for art, not commerce. Jackson's receiving a token of his usual big paycheque from Danny DeVito's production company, which is fronting the venture. There's an acting method to his financial madness.

"I found the book," reports Jackson. "They paid for it and paid for the script. So I couldn't ask them to pay me, too."
