Is Rachel McAdams going to make cat-nip out of Spider-Man?
That's the rumour du jour -- or rumour du nerd, as it were -- with word spreading on such sites as mania.com that the 30-year-old Canadian actress is the front runner for the role of the Black Cat in Spider-Man 4.
In the comics, the Black Cat is a sultry socialite who spends her evenings as a masked jewel thief and femme fatale.
Word of caution, though: Director Sam Raimi hasn't even confirmed who the villains in his sequel will be -- and probably won't until next summer's Comic-Con.
What has been confirmed is that both Tobey Maguire and Kristen Dunst are returning and the film will be out in May 2011.
McAdams, last seen in The Time Traveller's Wife, next appears opposite Robert Downey Jr. in Sherlock Holmes, opening Christmas Day.
