There's a tremendous enthusiasm for life in the suburban comedy Judy Berlin, and it comes from the heart of the movie's creator, writer/director Eric Mendelsohn.
For Mendelsohn, a man much too personable and generous to be a filmmaker, this first feature has been a triumph. Judy Berlin was shown at Cannes last year and also won the Best Director honours at Sundance. It just opened in theatres here.
