Sandra Oh to host Genie Awards
By BILL HARRIS -- Sun Media
The Genie Awards have pulled a Genie out of their hats with the news that Sandra Oh will host the ceremony this year. The 28th annual Genie Awards, which recognize the best in Canadian film, will be held in Toronto next Monday. An edited hour-long version of the ceremony will be televised that same night on E! and IFC affiliates in Canada. Oh, a native of Ottawa, currently stars on the ABC series Grey's Anatomy. Oh has won two Genies herself in the past, for the films Double Happiness and Last Night. "It is an absolute honour to have Sandra Oh as the host for the Genie Awards," said Sara Morton, CEO for the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, which is responsible for the Genies. |
