Clive feelin' alive in Toronto
Nothing like a great script and some nightlife to help one appreciate our winter months
By -- Toronto Sun

TORONTO - Clive Owen is having the time of his life in Toronto, and not just because of the great shopping, nightlife and weather. Especially the weather. It’s sort of sucked lately, hasn’t it?

The Brit star of Closer, Sin City and the upcoming heist thriller Inside Man is in town filming the bullet-riddled action movie Shoot ’Em Up, with co-stars Paul Giamatti and Monica Bellucci.

And to say he’s enjoying himself would be a bit of an understatement.

“It’s a really incredibly wild, fresh, original script,” Owen said in New York last week, where he’d flown in from T.O. to do interviews for Inside Man, opening in theatres next Friday.

“It’s this incredibly ingenious action movie where the lead character keeps being put in these incredible situations and you can’t believe he’s going to get out of them, and somehow he does.”

Owen has been frequently spotted around town, soaking up the ambience at hotspots like the Drake Hotel and College Sts.’ uber-hip cocktail lounge, Bird.

But it’s clear that he’s having just as much fun during the daylight hours, working on Shoot ’Em Up. “It starts with a guy delivering a baby in an alley while people are shooting at him, and it doesn’t let up for 90 minutes,” Owen said of the movie.

“It’s going really really well. It’s leaping off the page. I’ve got high hopes for it.”
