Now this will be one evening where it will be really, really funny if Russell Peters says what he truly is thinking.
It has been announced that Peters will host the 26th annual Gemini Awards, which honour the best in Canadian television. The main Geminis ceremony takes place Sept. 7 and will be televised on CBC.
“I’m excited about hosting the Emmys, but since that’s not happening, these Geminis are going to be amazing,” Peters said in a statement. “Plus this will be a great warmup for when I do host the Emmys.”
Coincidentally, Peters is a former Gemini Award winner for his performance hosting the Juno Awards back in 2008.
Besides hosting the Geminis, Peters has a busy fall coming up. His new movie Breakaway will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, and he also is being inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame.
