Jeremy Piven knows kids are the toughest critics.
And two of the most demanding are his six and 11-year-old nieces.
“Pearl, the six year old, is very opinionated,” says Piven, who plays arch-villain Timekeeper in the new family film, Spy Kids: All the Time in the World.
“It'll be interesting to see what she thinks of the movie.”
It will also be the first time his nieces have seen Uncle Jeremy on screen, as his Emmy Award-winning role as cut-throat Hollywood agent Ari Gold on HBO's Entourage isn’t exactly kid-friendly.
“They think I work for the bus company because they saw my picture on the side of a bus,” he says with a smile.
“They had no other reference for me.”
Piven admits he was surprised how much he enjoyed working on the fourth instalment of the popular Spy Kids series and says he would have never guessed some of his best work would be in a children’s movie.
“It was so fun,” Piven gushes.
“What an amazing, original character and creation that (director) Robert Rodriguez put together. I don't know if my vision was anything near his. But after I read the script, I showed him the voice and the movement of what I thought it would be and it all worked.”
