Keanu Reeves will be starring in an adaptation of the Philip K. Dick novel "A Scanner Darkly," Variety reports.

Set in the future, the movie is about undercover agents who can alter their faces to hide their identities.

Dick's work was influenced by his drug experiences and his science-fiction stories have been made into such movies as "Blade Runner," "Total Recall," and "Minority Report." This movie will be shot live-action and then animated.

Richard Linklater ("School of Rock") is in talks to direct the film.

Reeves will next be seen starring alongside Rachel Weisz in "Constantine," a movie based on the DC/Vertigo comic book "Hellblazer."
