The tempestuous relationship between glamourous screen star Lana Turner and Johnny Stompanato could soon get the big screen treatment.
Variety reports that Warner Bros. is in talks with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Keanu Reeves to star in a drama based on the relationship, tentatively scheduled to begin shooting in January.
The film would recount the infamous romance between Stompanato, a bodyguard and bagman for gangster Mickey Cohen, and MGM's "sweater girl" Turner. Their relationship came to a brutal end in 1958 when Turner's daughter Cheryl Crane stabbed Stompanato to death in what was eventually ruled justifiable homicide.
Reeves will next be seen in the comedy "Thumbsucker" with Vince Vaughn and Tilda Swinton. Zeta-Jones will appear alongside Antonio Banderas in "The Legend of Zorro," due in theatres in October.
