Keanu Reeves OKs paternity test
By TRACY McLAUGHLIN - Special to Sun Media

Toronto-raised actor Keanu Reeves agrees to DNA test to see if he fathered any of Karen Sala's sons.

BARRIE -- Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves has agreed to a DNA test to find out if he is the father of a Barrie woman's children, his lawyer confirmed yesterday.

While the star of such movies as Speed and The Matrix did not show up in family court yesterday, Toronto lawyer Lorne Wolfson confirmed his client has agreed to the test.

"There will be a DNA test done within the next while," Wolfson said outside of court.

The issue was brought to court last May when Karen Sala, 46, filed a claim that Reeves is the father of at least one of her four adult children and wanted the court to order the paternity test to prove it.

Outside court, Sala was jubilant that Reeves, who turns 45 today, has consented to the test, which means she no longer has to get a judge to order it.

"This is not about revenge or an attack on his good character -- it's about closure and getting some peace," said Sala. "This is a personal journey."

Sala showed up at court with one of her sons, Ryan, 21, who would not comment.

She would not say if she is seeking any financial support from Reeves.

However, documents filed with the courts show she is asking for $150,000 per month in child support, retroactive from June 1988, and an order for $3 million a month in spousal support retroactive from November 2006.

Reeves' publicist, Cheryl Maisel, insists the actor doesn't even know who Sala is.

The parties are expected back in court Oct. 16.
