King flipping wig over Ving film
By CLAIRE BICKLEY
HOLLYWOOD -- Ving Rhames finally gets some hair in a film and this is the hair he gets? Rhames is playing notorious boxing promoter Don King in an unauthorized HBO movie that has both his and its subject's hair standing on end. Thomas Carter, producer of Don King: Only In America, says despite King's public protestations, he believes the flamboyant fight man is happy for any attention. "My own personal suspicion is that Don King is secretly happy that someone's making a movie about him, knowing how much he loves the limelight and loves to be in the newspaper," Carter says of the film that finishes shooting today and will be seen in Canada on The Movie Network this November. But director John Herzfeld, who endured a 31/2-hour tongue lashing from King, disagrees. "He told me he's extremely unhappy about the movie being made ... He said to me, 'I'm feeding the hand that will bite me,' " says Herzfeld. "He's told me he's going to sue HBO and sue everybody." I've seen some clips and had a look at those five wigs they fitted over Rhames' usually smooth skull. Maybe he should sue. |
