Moviemaker Michael Ritchie, the director of such films as "The Bad News Bears," "The Candidate" and "Semi-Tough," died Monday from complications related to prostate cancer, Variety reports. He was 62.
After hitting his stride in the '70s with those films, and the cult 1975 beauty-pageant spoof "Smile," Ritchie's career slowed down, although he did helm Bette Midler's concert film "Divine Madness" in 1980 and directed Chevy Chase in both "Fletch" and "Fletch Lives" in 1985 and 1989.
