TORONTO -- Patricia Rozema anticipates some critics are going to take issue with her interpretation of Mansfield Park.
The film, currently playing at the Grant Park, has a dark edge not found in other recent adaptations of the novels by Jane Austen. It lacks the sunny comic countenance of Emma, starring Gwyneth Paltrow. It has none of the genteel grace of Ang Lee's Oscar-winning adaptation of Sense And Sensibility. At times, it gets downright ugly.
