HOLLYWOOD -- Alicia Silverstone can't go anywhere without being recognized.

She recently went to a New York strip club with a girlfriend to catch a bump-and-grind show.

One of the performers recognized Alicia.

"She pointed me out to the other performers on the stage. Then the whole room knew I was there so I had to leave," recalls Silverstone.

The 20-year-old actress insists she was at the club for the purpose of research.

"I have such hang-ups about nudity and screen sex that I got to thinking maybe I'm just this big prude. So I went to the strip club to try to make myself understand it more."

Silverstone is currenlty starring as Batgirl in Batman & Robin. On Aug. 29, she and Benicio del Toro star in the road movie Excess Baggage which they filmed in Vancouver last summer.
