Steven Spielberg has signed on to produce the remake of the 1951 sci-fi film "When Worlds Collide," Variety reports.
Spielberg will be taking over for Stephen Sommers ("Van Helsing," "The Scorpion King"), who skipped the project to produce and direct the comedy "A Night at the Museum."
There is no word on whether Spielberg will direct the film. He is currently shooting the drama "Munich," which stars Eric Bana ("Troy") and Daniel Craig ("Lara Croft: Tomb Raider").
Spielberg is also producing the upcoming films "Legend of Zorro" and "Memoirs of a Geisha."
