Sizzling screen lady Madeline Stowe sure ain't shy in her current film, Playing By Heart, in which she plays a lusty wife having a clandestine rendezvous with a ... a ... well, we can't reveal with who, 'cause that's part of the surprise ending.

But Stowe says it has taken all her life to get over her own timidity -- on-screen and off. "I was so shy, I didn't like leaving the house," she said recently, to reporters at The Essex House Hotel in Manhattan.

"And I'm still the kind of girl who blushes easily."

And we see plenty of bashful blushing in Hearts, underneath all that skimpy lingerie.
