Kiefer Sutherland's hiatus from "24" will be a time for reflection.
Variety.com reports the actor has signed on for the supernatural thriller "Mirrors," which is loosely based on the South Korean film "Into the Mirror."
Alexandre Aja ("The Hills Have Eyes" remake) wrote the screenplay and is set to direct.
Sutherland will play an ex-cop now working as a mall security guard who discovers that there's something odd about the mirrors in a department store.
The "24" star was originally set to star in big-screen adaptation of the popular TV series, but the screenplay was not finished in time. Sutherland is expected to work on that project during his next hiatus.
Shooting for "Mirrors" is scheduled to begin in May.
