A trailer for a film showing scenes of a space shuttle crew in trouble has been pulled from movie theatres following Saturday's Columbia disaster.
Paramount PIctures has asked theatres to stop showing the trailer for "The Core" while it evaluates the campaign's sensitivity to the recent events, Variety reports. There are no plans to delay the sci-fi thriller's March 28 release date.
Hilary Swank and Aaron Eckhart star in the movie about NASA "terranauts" who must travel below the Earth's surface after the inner core stops rotating leading to a series of life threatening disasters above ground.
Despite the trailer being yanked from movie theatres, it can still be viewed on the film's official web site with the controversial scenes in tact.
"The Core" is one of a handful of movies that have unwittingly mimicked real-life events.
In October, "Phone Booth," which revolves around a sniper, was put on hold while a suspected sniper was on the loose in the Washington area.
Terrorist thriller "Bad Company" and Arnold Schwarzenegger's "Collateral Damage" were also delayed in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.
