Chris Tucker, who stars as the motor-mouthed con artist in Money Talks, admits his mouth has been getting him into trouble as long as he can remember.
"I was that horrible kid who'd call teachers by their first names and get the whole class a detention," says Tucker, who also produced Money Talks.
"It paid off because one teacher challenged me to host the school talent show and I loved it so much I never looked back."
At 19, Tucker was regular at the Comedy Act Theatre in his home town of Atlanta, and a few years later he was starring at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles.
"Richard Pryor came to see me one night and told me I was funny. That was the coolest thing that's ever happened to me."
Tucker has a small cameo in Quentin Tarantino's Christmas movie Jackie Brown.
"I have this jail scene with Samuel L. Jackson. I just worked two days, but being directed by Quentin and working with Sam was like being in an acting class. They taught me so much about this acting thing.
"Until then, I'd just been flying by the seat of my pants."
