"NYPD Blue" star Nicholas Turturro is joining Adam Sandler and Burt Reynolds in the remake of the 1974 drama-comedy "The Longest Yard," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The original film featured Reynolds as retired football quarterback Paul Crewe, who is sent to prison and forced by a sadistic warden to lead a team of inmates against a team of guards.
Turturro is set to star as Brucie, a quarterback.
The original film grossed $46 million in box office earnings when it was released in '74.
The remake is scheduled for release next May.
