Nia Vardalos is looking forward to a big fat Canadian summer.
"I'm going to Winnipeg to play the mom in the new American Girl movie," she says.
Cameras start rolling in July with Jade Pettyjohn in the lead.
The tween-friendly American Girl line of dolls, books, fashion and activities has already been adapted once for the big screen in Kit Kittredge: An American Girl.
"I get to go home and I get to be a hero to my daughter," says Vardalos who adopted a little girl with husband Ian Gomez in 2008.
But that's about all the My Big Fat Greek Wedding star can reveal about the movie, including which doll the film is inspired by.
"I'm not allowed to say or they will shackle me."
She's currently promoting the new comedy Larry Crowne, which she co-wrote with star and director Tom Hanks.
