Universal has paid an estimated $2.25 million for the rights to the comedy "The Break Up," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"Old School" actor Vince Vaughn is attached to star in and produce the film.
The film's details are being kept under wraps, but it is based on an original idea by Vaughn, who will receive "story by" credit.
Vaughn will be seen next in "Be Cool," the sequel to John Travolta's "Get Shorty." It hits Canadian theatres on March 4.
