TV veteran Al Waxman and comedy team Frank Shuster and the late Johnny Wayne have received special Gemini Awards honouring their careers in the medium.

Al Waxman is this year's winner of the Earle Grey Award, recognizing an actor's body of work.

Wayne and Shuster get the Margaret Collier Award, rewarding writers who have raised the international profile of Canadian TV.

The defunct CBC series The Rez wins the Canada Award recognizing programming that reflects racial and cultural diversity.

The awards will be presented at Gemini ceremonies Oct. 3 and 4.
