Witherspoon and husband up for circus movie
By JAM! Movies

Off-screen couple Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe are being considered for leads in the circus melodrama "Flying Smiths."

Variety reports that George Wing's screenplay would cast Phillippe ("AntiTrust") as a trapeze artist whose career is ruined when his eye is damaged by a tiger. His life is further complicated when his glass eye is swallowed by the child of a woman (Witherspoon) with whom he falls in love.

Wing's recent screenplay "Fifty First Kisses" is being made into a film by "Austin Powers" director Jay Roach. Adam Sandler and Julia Roberts are said to be interested in the leads, Variety said.

Phillippe and Witherspoon met when they appeared together in "Cruel Intentions". They have since married.
