Billy Bob Thornton had a no-yelling policy on his set of All The Pretty Horses. Judging from the film's final product, director Thornton gave himself a no-tinkering policy, too.

On the surface, Billy Bob Thornton's film adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's nouveau western novel All The Pretty Horses -- which opens in Calgary on Christmas Day -- should be an exhausting and incredible experience.

The story is simple yet epic, the performances are understated yet unilaterally exceptional and the scenery is a breathtaking backdrop for both.
