Straightforward and generic detective thrillers, like a nutritious but bland meal of pot roast and potatoes, can be a good thing once in a while.
But Along Came a Spider, opening in theatres today, proves that a detective thriller that alternates between hackneyed thrills and loopy leaps of logic is not a good thing. Like pot roast and potatoes covered with marshmallow sauce and anchovies. Ick.
