Jean-Pierre Jeunet's delightful Gallic romance has more titles than a French aristocrat. It is being released here as Amelie, the name of the heroine who is played with verve, imagination, gamin-like sensuality and even pathos by the startling new French star Audrey Tautou.
In France and at the Cannes and Toronto film festivals it was called Le Fabuleux Destin D'Amelie Poulain (or The Fabulous Destiny Of Amelie Poulain). It was also known as Amelie Of Montmartre, named for the storied Paris neighbourhood where our heroine lives.
