Winnipeg documentary director Jeff McKay took an intriguing subject for his documentary follow-up to his 1994 Peabody Award-winner Fat Chance -- beds.
In 'And So to Bed', McKay's camera does some serious bed-hopping during the course of this one-hour National Film Board effort. A homeless man, prone on a Toronto street, remembers how his mother used to tuck him in. He visits the Moonlight Bunny Ranch, a Nevada brothel where hookers discuss the difference between beds at work and beds at home. He talks to a kinky San Francisco S&M afficionado who shows off his elaborate bondage bed. And he talks shop with a convicted murderer/mattress manufacturer who deconstructs the cot in his prison cell.
