It's not really fair to call The Country Bears a movie. The Disney picture is much more like an extended music video, with real people and people dressed in bear suits singing hurtin' songs. Truly.

The Country Bears, everyone should know, is based on an attraction in Disney World called Country Bear Jamboree, which involves animatronic bears that play and sing. Each sentence we type here feels like sliding further and further into some kind of cultural hallucination.

A movie based on an amusement park attraction? Only Disney would have the furry cajones to attempt something so blatantly marketing-driven.

And only Disney would have the money, and access to the people and resources to almost pull it off.
